Traditional Hawaiian Bodywork

Lomilomi is the traditional Hawaiian massage form that has been developed through many generations from island to island. Lomilomi means to knead, massage and roll. This healing form of massage is performed with the hands and forearms, the breath also plays an important role during the massage, with joint deep breath work, tensions and blockages can be better released and thus more healing. The century old bodywork is a ritual / ceremony and is opened and ended with a Hawaiian Pule (prayer) Chant (chant). Lomilomi also consists of letting go and forgiving. The massage is designed to relieve tension, release blockages, move pain points out of the body and thus (re)-establish inner balance.

From the Hawaiian point of view, the bones are considered the seat of power and knowledge. The abdomen as the seat of the enteric nervous system (ENS for short) and complex network of nerve cells. Abdominal brain, abdominal brain or gut brain.

In tradition, these healing methods were practiced by all family members. Children massaged their parents by standing with their feet on their backs. Adults massaged children and adults massaged each other.
