**The Federal Council decided on Thursday 4/16/20 that physical therapy practices will be allowed to resume non-emergent treatments as of 4/27/20.

In the context of the coronavirus, the health and safety of our clients and patients, as well as our staff, still remains paramount. Therefore, we will open the practice limited at the beginning for physiotherapy, massage and kinesiology and can thus comply with the distance rules. We will continue to follow the guidelines and recommendations of the FOPH and the cantonal authorities.

Physiotherapy is an umbrella term for many different therapy methods for the treatment of a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints.

Branches of physiotherapy are:

• Movement therapy (physiotherapy).
• Mobilization of shortened muscles or joints restricted in range of motion
• Strengthening of weakened muscles or muscle groups
• Training therapy (exercises on/with equipment)
• Rehabilitation (in case of heart diseases or after brain injuries)
• Postural gymnastics (e.g. scoliosis therapy)
• Thermotherapy (cold/hot compresses)
• Electrotherapy (current applications)
• Massage (e.g. classical massage, connective tissue massage

All these methods are of course offered in our practice. They are usually sufficient to treat the most common complaints. In the last decades, more and more specialized treatment methods have been developed within physiotherapy to treat different, special, complicated or rare health problems.

Some manual therapy application examples:

• Migraine, head and neck pain, temporomandibular joint pain, teeth grinding, trigeminal neuralgia

• Intercostal neuralgia, back pain along the entire spine, sciatica, lumbago
• Hip, knee and ankle pain of all kinds
• Jogger's shin (shint splint), cramp calves, Achilles tendon irritation or heel spurs

• osteoarthritis
• sports injuries
• accidents at work
• whiplash injury

Many patients suffer from pain or dysfunction in the head, neck or jaw area. CRAFTA - Therapists (Cranio Facial Therapy Academy) are manual therapists who have specialized in these problems.

Besides physiotherapy we also offer naturopathy, kinesiology, Pilates, acupuncture and shock wave therapy.
